MGA History

In 1997, the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies appointed Martin & Zerfoss as their managing general agent (MGA) for personal lines in the State of Tennessee. The appointment provided non-contract agents across the state with a market for their affluent clients. Today, with the addition of Fireman’s Fund and Chartis, we serve over 130 agencies in the Southeast.

We separate ourselves from other wholesalers by providing an in-house service as opposed to sending our agents to a separate service center. Our staff deals directly with underwriters on a daily basis, so we take pride in the fact that we have high levels of underwriting and binding authority. We underwrite policies up-front, provide same day service for quotes and produce formal proposals for our agents. Most importantly, we pay a high rate of commission!

Both Christy Jones and Susan Spencer each have over 10 years of experience working with high-net-worth individuals in an effort to resolve their complex insurance needs. Once an agent builds up a significant volume with one of our carriers, they're welcome to entertain a direct relationship with that carrier. We've had several agents turn down these offers due to the high level of service provided by Christy and Susan.
